BIO-CMP by Biotics Basic concepts and physiologic function Recent studies have shown that magnesium intake is generally below the US RDA/RDI for most adults, and magnesium deficiency is very common among certain subgroups in America. Magnesium is necessary for cardiovascular health, proper neurologic function, and for the function of many enzyme systems, including those which are involved in fatty acid metabolism and liver detoxification. Calcium is also necessary for proper neurologic function, cardiovascular health, and of course for promotion and maintenance of bone strength. Additionally, calcium and magnesium intake are inversely proportional to the severity of premenstrual syptoms. Beyond their basic nutritional functions, many vitamins and minerals are being shown to help reduce the risk of chronic illnesses.
