PheniTropic by Biotics Research contains beta-Phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid, which is a derivative of GABA, a naturally occurring inhibitory neurotransmitter. Phenibut has been shown to have a calming effect and may assist in instances of stress, anxiety and even the improvement of impaired sleep.
PheniTropic contains a natural derivative of GABA which has been shown to improve impaired sleep. Try one or two right before bed. If you wake up in the night, take one to get back down to a deep restful sleep.
- Supplies Phenibut: 300 mg per capsule.
- Phenibut has been used to help relieve anxiety, stress, tension, fear, and to improve sleeping patterns. It has also been used to help depression and post-traumatic stress, stuttering and even vestibular disorders.
- For most people Phenibut (a GABA derivative) is far more effective than GABA because Phenibut has been shown to more completely cross the blood brain barrier (estimates are that only 4% of GABA crosses the blood brain barrier).
- Phenibut may be useful to reduce the craving for alcohol and may reduce alcohol-related behavioral disorders.
Vastly complex, the human nervous system coordinates innumerable processes via, amongst other things, a host of chemical messengers called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are used for everything from signaling the heart and lungs to function, to enabling the body to sleep so regeneration and repair can occur. Emotions, affect, mood, appetite, and even energy levels are also regulated by neurotransmitters. Unfortunately, neurotransmitters operate within a very narrow confine, and their balance can be easily disrupted by a variety of factors including genetics, immune function, diet, stress, and general chemical exposure. Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) is a primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. It is one of the ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters (Serotonin, Dopamine, GABA, Opioids and Norepinehprine) and it is commonly referred to as the anti-anxiety neurotransmitter.
Patients with low levels of GABA often complain of or present with severe hyperactivity, anxiety, irritability, altered mood, and sleep difficulties. PheniTropic™ contains beta-Phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid (Phenibut), which has been demonstrated to have a calming effect and may assist in instances of stress, anxiety, and even the improvement of impaired sleep.1 However, due to its derivation of GABA, PheniTropic™ appears to have no significant negative side effects other than the potential for increased sleepiness in some individuals. These effects were not significant when compared with prescription sleep aids.2 PheniTropic™ should not be taken with alcohol, and it should not be used during pregnancy and/or lactation, or in conjunction with sedatives, MAOIs, sleep aids, or with anxiety or seizure medications.
